2 x Shipping Containers The Container Restaurant Durango Colorado
2 x Shipping Containers, - The Container Restaurant, - Durango, Colorado,
Ska opened The Container in August. The Container takes the form of two industrial shipping containers attached to the south side of Ska’s brewery, 225 Girard St. in Bodo Industrial Park. The bottom container serves as the kitchen and walk-in cooler, with one side open to the indoor tasting room and the other facing the outdoor beer garden. The top container, equivalent to the brewery’s second floor, provides seating exposed to the elements.

Studio HT Shipping Container House Colorado
Studio HT - Shipping Container House - Colorado
This project questions the need for excessive space and challenges occupants to be efficient. Two shipping containers saddlebag a taller common space that connects local rock outcroppings to the expansive mountain ridge views. The containers house sleeping and work functions while the center space provides entry, dining, living and a loft above. The loft deck invites easy camping as the platform bed rolls between interior and exterior. The project is planned to be off-the-grid using solar orientation, passive cooling, green roofs, pellet stove heating and photovoltaics to create electricity.

Gelband and Loveman Boulder Colorado Modern Container Home
Gelband and Loveman - Boulder, Colorado - Modern Container Home
They plan to turn the 53-foot-long shipping container and another one that will arrive in the spring into a contemporary home with extensive glass and a second-floor terrace. The home fits the unique dimensions of their lot, which otherwise would have required them to seek a variance to build a house with a usable second story.
Architect Mark Gerwing said it is the first home in Boulder to be built from shipping containers.
"This is repurposing," he said. "It's using existing materials to build A rendering of Boulder's first house made of re-purposed shipping containers. (Courtesy)
