Team China's U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2011 entry, Y Container, combines six recycled shipping containers into a succinct, Y-shaped solar house. Y Container is easy to transport, assemble, and expand—providing the freedom to live anywhere with low costs and clean energy. It is a living house that can contain the energy, water, and plants required for an individual to enjoy an independent and natural lifestyle.

The 'xiang xiang pray house' located in the rural village of nan dazhan cun and designed by chinese firm tonghe shanzhi landscape design provides another high-quality facility in a vastly different environment spanning 5000 m2 using similar building methods. consisting of a compilation of 35 individual shipping containers, the five star hotel benefits from the advantages of using the prefabricated modules.

There is a total of 78 shipping containers all stacked, cantilevered and positioned every which way to house the corporate headquarters, meeting areas, lobby and of course– warehouse. A courtyard style structure allows for a nice outdoor space, great for impromptu meetings, lunch or anything in between. The interior is clean and simple, with the exterior providing as an impermeable barrier of the elements to the working environment.
